Re: progressive is for the elite

Once you get there you never go back to the crap that tiesto and his like spin. I was once like that too, but then you simply get the progressive bug and it never lets go. |
Elite my arse...no one's audible senses are elite...certainly not the way you expressed it...true enough that newbies enjoy the epic stuff....including all those who have followed the era of trance dated back to the early 90s....progressive is a sub-genre of trance and house...and has surfaced for as long as epic trance did.
It's all about the music court-jester...and in particular...about trance, in this forum, for that matter. So you can kiss your fucking ass goodbye to this forum if you hold yourself above the rest...whilst listening to your progressive shit and think that because of that very sad reason, progressive listeners are Elite in one sense or another...
I repeat, Elite my fucking arse....what a load of crap.....and please...Epic trance, for your info, is the favoured genre of all dance music since ages ago....statistical reports on sales of CD's and LP's at record stores is enough to back that statement....
Loved "it"(trance) and moving on...so some trance listeners have expressed their views on the current hype on progressive....
Well, your enormous ego ain't gonna get you nowhere my friend....
BTW, I do enjoy progressive tunes as much as epic trance...
As for your dissing of Tiesto, erm....if you can do better than him..hands down to you....otherwise, on behalf of those trance-addicts who respect DJs for what they believe in...go form your little ELITE progressive gathering and make the crowd bounce...if you can get/make any....

I'd lay off ripping on Tiesto's Epic style too. Fire's right. If you go back to the beginnings, both Trance and Prog House mutually existed, and neither is better than each other. Both came from house originally.
For the record, I was into prog house before trance, so you can't say it's more elite. Newbies only like trance since its one step closer to pop and *cough cough* often a little bit more fun.
But, the real fun happens when you cross-breed the two. IMO, the best music ever created is the deep AND uplifting stuff, things that Digweed, BT, PvD, Nick Warren and DJ Dag did in the mid-90s, and Tiesto sometimes does now. Hunt down those sets - they're like nothing else out there. Now that's what I want to hear.

beroshima, I couldn't have said it better... The best music is the cross-breed of the deep progressive and uplifting trance/house!
Now, on that remark about Tiesto, I just have one thing to say - that's just dumb! Saying something like that about a guy who was Dj-ing for the last 16 years, and has spun all kinds of stuff (progressive/uplifting/whatever), and has made millions of people happy (including me), that is just dumb... If you can do better than him, all the props, but I don't believe you ever will with an attitude like that.

if you werne't so ignorant
you would understand that being progressive doesn't mean you spin progressive house. or whatever you might call "progressive trance" (that's jimmy van m style to me)
from talking to a friend, and accepting what he believes has helped me redevelop the term "progressive" for me...
a true progressive set to me is where the dj can take the crowd through different genres and make sense, from what I have heard lee burridge is a master at this.
a true progressive set to me is where the dj can go through trance, techno, house, breakz, or other genres and then sift back through each sound and create a style unlike any other.

elite wouldnt be the word I would use, perhaps you could say progressive is less immediately accessible to someone without exposure to that style of music
