What you guys rekon, do you see yourself using this or stick to the old fashion vinyl or CD Or just hate the old version < 1.5 and wouldnt bother this time round because of the bugs and faults that some people have from the previous versions.

I like CDJ's better then FS.

Something to replicate a 12" interface is something that's living in the past, CDJ's are moving forwards (as other other things like Ableton live)

Didn't PVDs computer hit the blue screen of death using Final Scratch at NYE in America??

Thats why in this video he was using a MAC g4

The Windows/PC version of Final Scratch doesn't run on Windows. It runs a custom build of Linux. I'm not sure how he'd of had a blue screen, unless it was built into Final Scratches OS.

I've used FS before and booted the laptop into Final Scratch, at no stage does it go anywhere near windows.

I'm not sure about the Mac version, but his reason for getting a mac would be something other then Final Scratch crashing[perhaps the laptop he had had issues, where as the G4 is known to be solid on the touring circuit?]

thought it was cool!
but i must admitt!

its very time consuming.
1) record each vinyl one by one (7-9 minutes wait depending on the song)
2) trim start/end of audio file (1-2 minutes)
3) covert wave to mp3 (2minutes)
4) stripping the mp3 (so it could display the audio map onto the screen ) (3-5minutes)

takes aprox 15 minutes per song

please have a look at your record collection
then think very carefully about this one.

the reason paul uses it is becasue the laptop is his studio.... he makes and edits tracks on long haul flights and because the majority of the stuff he plays he receives electronically as high qualty 24bit aiff files then there is unrivaled sound reproduction using FS.

obviously if u had to convert and stuff it would be a pain but i know for a fact VANDIT has all their catalouge on high quality AIFF.

so it makes sense for him

not sure how mac gets a blue screen?

Final scratch 1.0 is a modifation of beOS (its all linux based)
later on they came up with Final scratch 1.5
which is windows based. (no linux)
tried both
the first linux version is the best tho, - no lag.

ill stil be using it. Its fun!

as for converting all your vinyl to digital

if u have it on vinyl, why do u put it in mp3? FS doesnt just limit u to mp3s (whats on ure comp...) right?
