Well you're done the easy part... you've registerred your domain... now you're ready for the real aspect of web development.
Next step is to look around for a web host. If this is the first time you've done this, you'll wanna maybe look around for the best prices. The things you wanna ask yourself...
-How much space do I need - for example... you mentioned you're gonna be hosting music. How many tracks/sets will you be hosting on your site. Obviously the space on a web server you need the more you will pay... but some places have good package prices.
-How much bandwidth do I need - The more people download from your site, the more bandwidth you will use. The more bandwidth you use, the more the host will charge you. There's a big difference between having 1 person/day visiting your site vs. 1000 people/day. Again, think about what you'll need and find the best starting package for you.
-Next, you'll wanna build you page. From the sounds of it, you're simply looking to use a template. You'll still need to know some HTML coding to use a template... so read up on some tutorials and your ABCs of HTML. It's a pretty simple language to learn, but it can be very tempermental, especially if you have no previous experience with coding in general. For your first site, I'd say follow the KISS rule until you get the basics down However, rememeber that the design of your site is what will draw a target audience.. if it's to basic, you won't get the return visitors and your market will never grow. Repeat visitors is the key!!!
-So now you've got you web site. You'll need to use an FTP Client to upload your site to the server. You're going to upload all your production files to your web host. Remember, keep your directories and file WELL ORGANIZED and you'll thank yourself down the road when you update the site.
Well, those are the basics. You can expand each section as you grow and learn more about making a web page... but if you've only purchased a domain, you haven't even scratched the surface to creating an entire site. You've got a LOT of work ahead of you!!!
But good luck! And have fun doing it!
