Question Records in a set ....

Just wondering how many records do you all squeeze in say a 90 min set.. Because last night i was spinning at a party and played 20 records wich lasted 90 mins, and the man before me was a real sick bastard and played like 11 in 90 mins.... I was a bit puzzled, but dont get me wrong, he could mix all-right !

How many do you slip in the bag for a 90 min set ?

It really depends on how a DJ wants to play. Example Bad Boy Bill versus John Digweed

Bad Boy Bill goes each record in about a mintue. John Digweed uses the whole record usually (average time of 7-10 mins)

Dog Running A clean desk is a sign of a cluttered desk drawer.

yeah, ill pay that, it is very variable
it depends on the DJ, and also on the style.
some will pay very few, some will paly lots
see CD's
some mix CD's have lots of track, some as many as 20, and some, in the same genre, may only have 11 tracks[such as Sash + Digweed expeditions 2]

On my CDs it's about 25 Recs in 90 min. When I spin live it is more like 35. I like it this way cause tracks get boring to me really fast when I hear them full length. Also there's more room for mixing when you spin a lot of records.
I take about 120 recs with me to a 90 min set.

BTW, I think this should belong in the DJ Zone.

depends on what style you're spinning ...

example: Retro: usually very agressive sets, ... with lots and lots of "energy" in them. I've got a perfect example, my buddy mixed a Retro-classics CD (74 minutes), he had 50 (!!) tracks in that. And i can tell you, that's the absolute BEST retro-mix I've ever heard ...

I gotta get my hands on that one, Cyrax. VERY interested!!!
Did you get one of my Retro mixes? I only had 36 tracks in each one, and they were 90 mins, but hey

If you can hook me (or all TAs) up with that mix of your friend, that would RAWK!

I'll ask a friend if he can host it. For ripping I'd suggest using EAC, which you can get at www.exactaudiocopy.de
it makes .cue files as well.

I usually fit in about 20 tunes at 4-5 minutes each, but it depends on the style of the track...

Snowman's great, I would love to hear that 90 minute set by him. It would blow my mind.
