Would it be ok to run my mixer to an amplified receiver (Pioneer VSX-D811), then to an amplifier (Alexis RS3000), and then out to the speakers? Or will there be significant distortion because the sound is being amplified twice? Thanks in advance.

I would have to say you shouldn't do that. Amplifying the signal once is just fine no need for twice.

I am trying to do this because I am looking for a way to split the line when it comes out of the mixer. So from the receiver I can run the line to several different sources. If I shouldn't use a receiver to split the line what should I use?

If that is what you are doing then it should be OK, you are not really amplifying the signal twice.

You can also just use 2 "Y" splitters to split the audio signal to 2 different devices. But you might get some degradation of sound quality if you split too many times.

Another thing you can do is get a "distribution amplifier". This is just a small box with some isolation amplifier circuitry that splits the audio signal electronically and isolates the outputs from each other. They even had cheap ones at Radio Shack but I'm not sure if they still have them.
