Assistance required in finding the best laptop for £1000
Some lads at work are from poland and one has asked me because im into computers and stuff to help him find a new laptop. Hes gave me a budget of £1000 to find him the best laptop i can. hes given me some rough specs:
Screen = 15" or more.
CPU = Intel or AMD, but not celeron.
Memory = 512 or 1GB (high quality stuff)
HDD = 60/80 GIG 5400/7200 RPM HDD
Video = ATI Mobility 9000 or afterwards
Audio = Audio isnt that important, but something decent if possible
Drive = DVD/RW (inc. CDRW)
Floppy Drive is non-essential, but preferable.
Ethernet Port
USB2/Firewire
56k modem
I know there is an imense freedom with PC's, and given this task with a PC it would be very simple to buy in the best quality parts (which u can research in lots of detail (like memory latency)) but laptops dont appear to have the same freedom.
The above list looks very abitious for £1000, tho tiny have something along those lines for £1000 here but it doesnt go into much detail about any of the unbranded parts (ie motherboard, memory etc) which leaves me to believe theyre not worth bragging about, ie, shit.
im not personally that knowledgeable on laptops, so i came to seek advice. Ive been to Dell but their setup is very pre-determined, and u can change very little.
assistance would be greatful. thanks.
