One Man Army - The Anthem/Ballroom Dancer

Your thoughts?

I just recently got this in the mail from the JOOF promo service.

The Anthem - wonderful haunting vocals, nice simple main lead, but the breakdown is too long even though it's beautiful. 4/5

Ballroom Dancer - Nothing fancy, just straight on dark, driving psytrance. The structure of this track is fantastic. On it's own it's good, but I've found it works very nicely near the latter 1/3 of some of my sets. 4.25/5

Ballroom dancer is the bomb PERIOD. I'm probably the biggest of that tune so far
Been wanting to buy it since february or so when I first heard the 32kbps sample from airbase's website... Which I kept listening to as if it was a full quality song
Gonna buy this the moment I see it.

Edit: Ian^, you got a typo in your review. The first heading says "One man army" instead of "The anthem"

Yeah, you know, the more I listen to it the more I'm liking it. It's really growing on me. If you want it now, just subscribe to the JOOF promo service . That's how I got it.

9? Hmmm maybe a bit too generous IMO . I dont think its one of the best productions of the year. Still good though, 7.5.
Wouldn't have picked it as one of Jezper's though.

to be perfectly honest i'd rate it up alongside other tracks that I gave similarly high scores like these

echano - nothing to live for
recluse - yellow moon
factoria - a legends legacy
Beatseekers - reflexion

imo they're all solid and some of the better tunes this year, hence my scoring other people can rate the tunes on the site anyway, so it gives my score then the users score, so you can take an average of them all to get a good score

i dont like it that much...
the breakdown/melody part is annoying to me. the beats and bass and stuff sound mad in both tracks but then it just stops and out of nowhere this ferry style melody comes in and ruins it imo. its worse in ballroom dancer with the piano, i think it doesnt fit at all with the style of the rest of the track, which i think sounds awesome. this is something i would expect on tsunami or something, not joof. the label page says its joof's "summer anthem" and to be honest i dont think this label needs a "summer anthem", and besides who has their summer in september/october im dissapointed with this

I agree, i'm not a big fan of the breakdown at all. The piano melody is out of place and it ends real slow just before the kick comes back. I'm really digging the vibe of this track and i'm still in shock that Jezper produced this, I don't think i've liked any of his productions but this one is damn nice.
