What I like about the Texas scene is it seems much more about the music and less about being pretty. I'd go to shows at Ruby Skye in SF with big-name DJ's, & people there seemed more into being scoped or scoping than listening to the music.

Same deal with a few weekly events (like 111 Minna) in SF--happy hour meat market scenes when I wanted to dance my ass off.

At the Wednesday night shows I've been to, people are there for the MUSIC (not that some scoping doesn't still occur)
