A FOOTBALLER has been sacked for allegedly sexually assaulting a youth team player.
Oxford United’s Julian Alsop is said to have tried to shove a banana up his backside as a prank went too far.
The terrified 16-year-old, who was reportedly stripped naked, wept as other players egged Alsop on.
What has been described as a play fight two weeks ago at Oxford’s training ground soon spiralled out of control.
Witnesses claimed Alsop, 31, got angry when the boy retaliated.
Alsop was said to have stripped him and then started whipping him with a towel.
Encouraged by other players, Alsop, allegedly manhandled the still-naked boy out on to the training pitch.
He got another player to hold down the youth while he fetched a banana, which he is then alleged to have tried to ram up the boy’s backside.
Amazingly, the matter was not reported to police because the teenager felt it might affect his future at the club.
But his furious parents went to the League Two club to protest after hearing of the alleged incident.
They demanded action and Oxford manager Graham Rix - who served time in prison after being found guilty of having sex with a 15-year-old girl in 1999 - fired Alsop on Monday
