worthless from what i heard. buy them, put em in a closet, maybe you will get some use out of them if you come down with a case of hemorrhoids.

tennis balls are the way i have seen most go. cheap easy, walk by a tennis court and you should find some on the ground outside the fences. a.k.a. free!

Or go to a dog park. Dogs love em' but stupid dogs like my lab will hide the balls so i need to buy more for him. If you can find where he hides them, than there will be enough balls for everybody!

Back on topic:
Used freefloats once---> baggage (thats crap in english). Like trying to mix with a bouncy castle.
Used turntables suspended on a stand hanging from the ceiling--> baggage. Fartoo much movement, and poles in the way
Tennis balls--> ok as a quick fix, but start scratching and it gets annoying.
Far too wobbly.
To be honest there are a variety of thin materials you could use. just find out what works for you and what doesnt.

Ideally you need some bricks or concrete posts. A lot of the clubs i work in have concrete pillars built into the console for the turntables.
A good solution is to get a plate of glass long enough to fit under your turntables and mixer or whatever, and then isolate the glass from the table top with some very thin rubber pads maybe an inch or so wide (literally need to be a couple of mm wide). a plain sheet of glass cut to size isnt that expensive.
No skippage then.
