A revolution of DJ'ing ?

Ok its not new, but its now actually becoming usable as the software is being ironed out as new versions are being released (and this nov will be a major new release for serento)its got to be the best cheapest and easiest way to mix tunes you like and hear in live sets or just off the net and mix them as if you bought the vinyl (well as i research its looking that way)

What am i talking about ?

TurnTable to PC Mixing

The two leaders (although im reading allot more positive info on Seranto):

Final Scratch 2 (Releasing in november)

http://www.finalscratch.com/fs4/start.asp

AND

Seranto

http://www.rane.com/scratch.html

Imagine:

1) Hear a tune u like in a live set, or just an mp3

2) Not know the name of the track, thus making it v hard to find it , ID'ing in forums can take a long time and might not ever be found thus making it impossible to actually buy.

3. Being able to mix as many of those tunes as you like together using exactly the same method as if you had bought the vinyls

4. Everything you mix is in digital quality (the quality of the mp3) and is recorded

I wanted decks and to start building a collection of vinyls, but it scares me ill never get all the tunes i have on my pc ive obtained from live sets, some i know names of tunes i know, many i dont, but that wouldnt matter if at least i could mix them together.

I dont like the idea of my love for trance being crippled by never being able to mix my favourite tunes just because i might never know the name.

Whats everyones Views? If youve used it before or just like the idea of it!?

1. If it's in a liveset you won't be able to get the full version which you'll need to mix effectively(the beginnings and ends of the songs are going to be mixed over plus you might have voiceovers in the middle of them)
2. MP3 Quality of a downloaded liveset won't be equal to that of an mp3 you buy, a wave/cd you buy, or vinyl you buy.
3. You shouldn't be mixing songs you didn't pay for in the first place...

But... if you want to use one of these programs/systems for mixing MP3's you paid for, go for it.

Yea, obv extracting out of a live set will cut up full tunes, but at least u get to program your own mixes with tunes uve heard and like for free at home, obv wen it comes to live performances bought MP3's would be needed.

New area in the market for buying Trance MP3's possibly ?

Like www.juno.co.uk but so you can also buy & download mp3's (using mp3.com prob wdnt provide the latest, and best trance (or archive the old stuff) for sale i presume

Anyway bak on to the subject, my main point wasnt about the way it would make it easier to play tunes you cdnt find on vinyl (even tho thats an ace feature)

but more about whos used them and what they think of both the makes and if its as good/better than cd mixing or normal vinyl mixing and how accurate it is...

keep the thread evolving ppl !

1. its SERATO not seranto LOL
2. No thats stealing. TSK TSK
3. It's already invented. Serato scratch can play MP3s on vinyl. The reason? So I can make my own Edits on tracks that I cant press on vinyl.

ugh. why would anyone wanna use live set rips? lol thats horrid.

also with music

-the rare tracks are the promo vinyls you get. like dancerecords.com has some pretty nice promos/whitelabels...either that or you can never get them since there "edits"

so BASICALLY THIS YOUR IDEA SUCKS.

PS based on your sig you would love to steal wouldnt you? *ahem* shareaza*ahem*

iv gotta say iv not long bought some decks and virtual dj'ing is NOTHING compared with actually doing it, it is soooo much fun and so rewarding when u get that perferct mix, just start collecting vinyls get 1 or 2 a week like i did and before you know it you will have a load honestly its so much better on decks
