Kindred Spirits - Warp

Pumaz and myself just finished our new track.. some of you may remember our first project, the official anthem of the Belgian forum on this board. this one is sort of the follow-up, in the same anthemic style...

we've only uploaded a sample this time (192kbps), because we might send this to some labels.

Yeah, I remember your track! It had that killer arpeggio-melody! Hmm, let's take a listen to this one now:

The kick is really weak. There's no energy in the track what so ever, and those vocals can't be used in a release. Isn't that a quote from Pulp Fiction...? Also, when the mainmelody is plaing, you really should add a stronger hihat between each kick to make everything more powerful.

Sorry, I think this is too amateurish to be released, but good luck anyway

it's way to weak.. need's a much stronger kick and bass
need's more percussions too... and stronger one's there too.. hehe

it's far to weak imo.. and as alexpea said.. think it sounds to amateurish to be released

lol, looks like i uploaded the wrong part of the track or maybe the track lost all its quality during the conversion

the first part is indeed more atmospheric, that was the point.. i guess you probably have to hear the whole intro to get into it.

and to be honest, i don't know what's wrong with the kick and the bass. sounds great on speakers over here..

lack of percussion.. well yeah, we didn't feel like drowning the mix with pointless conga's and stuff.. atmosphere followed by big synths was the intention there..

i know this is not perfect, but i really thought this was one of my best productions to date.

Well, first of all this is not my cup of tea at all so maybe don't take my comments too seriously. Supersaw leads

The really good thing about this clip is the way everything sounds absolutely clear, top EQing and synths! Like sirocco said, very easy on ears, that's good. In more musical terms, as in originality, structure, etc, even melody, i don't think it's great.. it's your common epic trancer with the same old tricks, ex: vocal sample sounds good but it isn't a particularly original idea (though it isn't the most standart thing out there, nice flute, and that's something you don't hear everyday). What could save it for me was if it had some great emotional element, like a particularly standout melody, but the main melody doesn't appeal to me at all.

I dunno if it has the potential to get signed or not, technically all the instruments and mix seems to sound very pro to my ears (dunno what people thought the kick had, sounds fine to me), but on the other hand it isn't very appealing as a track.

it's not bad, it's very cleanly produced but the sounds need a bit more too them, particularly the percs, it's all very light, especially as the melody is quite bigroom. the style is very mike-ish, but it doesn't quite have the girth his production has, it is still quite good tho

i didn't like the vocal part.

nice sounds in the intro.

the beat is just to weak for that melody and main synth.

that flute is really cool.

i say make it something progish. or improve the beat, bass is weak imo for the lead.

it is not bad work... The mastering does not seem to me bad, but it is true that it misses some details to do something of releasable of it, in particular to remove this vocal , and also a little more work on the percs and the lead which misses power...
keep it up !

Some good work fellas!

I have to disagree about the 'amateurish' sound, there's loads of things already out there that only sounds half as good to me.

Maybe the percs (and kickdrum) are a little light for such a big melody, though that's easily fixed with some trial and error. Not that they're bad sounding, maybe just replace them for this sort oif track.
Melody sounds great to me! I think there should be more of this coming out actually... There's too many tracks coming out without any real climax, they never could get me going on the dancefloor, they just 'drag' along.

Sounds almost finished to me, maybe do some little changes as suggested and it could just do the trick for this one

Cheers guys,
Wim

It's not a amateur track. It's pro-sounding, but the percs are too weak for this big melody. But it's not legal to use that movie-quote? I don't remember what movie it's from... Bur isn't it Samuel L. Jackson who is saying this?
