This leads me to believe that one of the following three must be true:

1) You're very stupid, as the manual is generally regarded as one of the best out there.
2) You have an illegal copy of Cubase and therefore don't have a manual
3) You somehow lost your manual between time of purchase and installation.

if you have been using floops for a while, why on earth would you want to change host to something you have absolutely no idea how to use? host applications wont make your music better by default just cuz you use them. until you can push every feature of floops to its absolute limit i see no point in trying to relearn an entirely new interface. it is indeed all to do with preference.

tranc3 i think thats a bit harsh, my uni's music department has a few comps with logic on it. even with the manual i found it all a little too much for my fruity shaped brain. but i guess thats just cuz im used to doing things the floops way. logic has its own interface that some musicians have become acustomed to and feel comfortable using. im just not one of them.

It's generally accepted that Logic has a higher learning curve than Cubase though, and it's also generally accepted that Cubase has a very good manual, so much so that the books out there written on Cubase by third parties sound very very similar to the manual itself. Because of this, I don't feel what I said was particularly harsh, but I do feel it was particularly true.

Here's a tip.

Buy the software. That way, since you've invested alot of your own time and money in it, you will have a greater incentive to master using the software.

I use logic and love it. I don't think the learning curve is too steep. It has shortcomings, but the included plug-ins are great and its a pretty flexible architecture.

If you're composing entirely in the software realm (i.e. no hardware synths, no vocal or instrument recordings, no DSP cards, no hardware FX, etc.) then you'd be fine sticking with fruity loops.

logic or cuebase , forget reason <-- id stick with fruity over reason,
pro tool you need a sound card that supports it.

like thay guy said "up there" manual is vital with CB toget full potential, and its explaind its a very good way, "looking at the software its wel written

Here are the manuals online for those that don't have them and are looking into which package will suit their production needs.

ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.com/Steinberg...e_SX_3/English/

ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.com/Steinberg...e_SX_2/English/

One for Cubase Sx 3 and the other for Cubase Sx 2. Logic for PC up until 5.5 isn't supported any longer as Emagic have now ported it over to Mac. My advice is to stick with an application that is suited to your system and something that you're comfortable using. It helps to have a friend that is using a similar app so you can both collaborate together and alone

Hope this helps
