Sasha played in Sydney on Sunday night. I didn't go but i heard it was a good party. The place he played usually has a big house crowd so that might have influenced his set a lot. Some of the tracks he played were:
Schiller - Ruhe
Felix Da Housecat - Watching Cars Go By
Lee Coombs - Lick The Frog
Spooky - Belong
Ethan - In My Heart (instrumental)
Kazell - Venice Dawn
Aloud - Sex and Sun Part 1 (Eric Prydz Mix)
Mylo - In My Arms
Mylo - Drop the Pressure
Dennis Ferrer & Jerome Sydenham - Sandcastles
Yosh - Do what you want
Here are some comments from people on www.inthemix.com.au :
| quote: | | I was expecting a way more prog set.. what can i say... he played his more uptempo house stuff oh well.... spooky - belong was my highlight. |
| quote: | Sasha was pretty good, not what I had expected but I had fun and I wasn't totally disappointed. His mixing was flawless. He really is one of the best mixers in the world, regardless of whether he is on a laptop or two fucking cassette decks.
He played a lot of wicked tunes. Lots of housey soundscapes with bits and pieces of electro and acid throughout. A bit of breakbeat, not too much but there was some quality crunching stuff in there.
Schiller - Ruhe
Felix Da Housecat - Watching Cars Go By
What else was there? Fuck it couldn't be bothered remembering.
Didn't hear Ulrich Schanuss - On My Own

| quote: | | i had an absolute ball, best day at sounds for a very long time! loved sasha's set, ever minute of it.. the first hour was OMFG, so good.. loved the acid and electro through the set, oh and the house tunes good to see him enjoy the set and jumping up and day, that's the first time ive seen him smile through out a set |
| quote: | Sasha was absolutely outstanding and I would have to rate his set as one of the best i have ever heard in Sydney.
I was expecting him to be his usual sultry self behind the decks but it was a very nice suprise to see him bopping away.
Tops, tops, tops! |
| quote: | I really enjoyed his set – much more upbeat and interesting and fun than every other time I've seen him. I wasn't looking at the man, so I don't give a fuck what he looked like playing with his laptop – Sydney should get over staring at a DJ all the time and complaining if he doesn't look busy enough. It's not important.
Liked the acid, liked the bleeps, liked the chunky beats, liked the choice of tunes, and the crowd – while busy as always – seemed very pleasantly smiley, which I also liked. One tune Sasha played that's not been mentioned yet:
* Julien Delfaud, Alex Gopher & Etienne De Crecy – 'Fast Track'
Sounded great really loud, and the place went bonkers for it. Honk-honk! Didn't like him finishing his set in the middle of 'Age Of Love' though... Ken Cloud in the Chapel earlier was thoroughly excellent, too.
I went home, drank red wine, then puked it all up again. Great way to end a great day. |
| quote: | | I was really looking forward to a nice progy set, I really enjoyed it nonetheless, but Mylo??? wtf |
| quote: | For f**ks sake - get over it...
I was probably one of the few people there last night that was doing it straight and I had a great time and I wasn't even a huge Sasha fan before I went.
So what if he uses a lap top - the guy can still put together an amazing set that I didn't hear any complaints about last night. Unless you were one of the few that were jammed up the front I'm not entirely sure how you could have seen whether he was playing vinyl, CDs or scratching his backside.
From the glimpses I did see he seemed to be having a ball as was everyone in the place.
Let start enjoying the music and stop bagging everyone out - unless you could get up there and do it better - which I very much doubt.
