I know for some it's a whatever thing, but in my opinion the names of artists / DJ's should be written correctly. You'd dislike your own name written wrong too, right?

So I get a few questions for you addicts.

1) DJ Arne L II or is it Lii / LII? Separated, big letters, etc..?

2) Normally names with van or von etc. are written with small letters, however with Paul van Dyk or other people I've usually seen it with a capital letter. What about this one?
And the capital letter stuff for anywhere in names too.. (guess I'm a perfectionist)

2) Paul van Dyk is with a normal 'v', like Jas van Houten and other european names that have 'van' or 'von' in them...

'van' is just a word that is in a lot of european names, it should always be written with a small letter, so no uppercase or whatever.

i thought van & Van are used both, it depends on the name if its Van or van

with PvD its Paul van Dyk supposedly
with eg. Joost Van Bellen, van is written with capital

i see in my neighbourhood also people with names with 'van' & 'Van'

it doesn't really matter, but i think originally, hundreds of years ago when they invented names, the names such as 'van' or 'von', or for the matter 'de' in french or 'al' in arabic, were spelt with lower case letters. it basically means 'of', so for example it would be Paul of Dyk.

we used to have such things in the english names hundreds of years ago, but they have been phased out and diluted by the numerous languages which make up modern english. for example, in an old folk tale (robin hood) there was a guy by the name of Guy of Gisbourne. nowadays in england, his name would be Guy Gisbourne.

Yep that's what I thought too, just depends if the person carrying the van/Van wants it capital

usually artists use a few names cos of licensing issues ie they've signed with multiple labels and have to use a different name with each which is why there are so many aliases in trance. That could be a reason for different/wrong spellings.

i think that's more to do with labels being bastards with licensing.

within the techno scene, nobody gives a shit like that. for example, hertz has released on 4 or 5 different labels within the last year, all under the name hertz
