i ve been djing (for my self) 5-6 months now and im almost perfect to beatmaching. problem is... that i do it with both tracks in the headphones, but not with split cue. both tracks on both headphone speakers. i tried to do it the classic way (one ear in headphone and one listening whats playing live) but its like im starting all over again. im worried. if i have to play in a club, will i be able to beatmatch with both tracks in the headphones? is the 1-1 ear way the only one?

yea chances are the mixer in the club will be able to play both cue and program in the phones, but its always a good idea to practice one ear que, one ear program, so your ready for any venue/setup.

I would never rely on a club system to have a mixer that supports cueing of two channels. I strongly believe you should learn to use one cue and beatmatch with the monitor or outside system. If there is a delay though, things get a little more tricky.

btw im practicing now, its not that hard. im having difficuilties adjusting the cue volum but ill make it!

I don't see your point with the question...just buy a good set of phones that cancel out the noise. How do you think everyone else does it?

When you dj in a club, one of the BIG adjustments you will notice you will have to make is separating what you hear in your headphones from all the 'bass' that is bouncing around the club. The bass is really loud and is everywhere. Good, loud monitors will greatly help you combat this hinderence.As well, a good set of headphones that block out the outside noise will help you out alot too. You have to sort of 'train' your ears to drown out the bass from the club if your monitors are not loud enough. Usually, clubs will have good , loud monitors. Atleast the big clubs will.

By using a good set of headphones that block out outside noise, you will be able to hear what you are doing better. I think they call them headphones 'circum-aural' or something like that.... They are teh ones that cover your entire ear. They block out most of the outside noise so that you get a very clear representation of the music within your headphones.

Anyways... its a good idea to be able to have the skill to DJ fully in your phones. Atleast, it will help you in the long run if you get more into being a 'club dj'.

IF the club has good monitors, you will still have to make a slight adjustment to get used to the sound the club monitors are producing. I found that when the club had good monitors, it was easier for me to DJ than to dj *only* in the phones.

Well, from a v700 you can't expect anything else but noise...

Seriously, dj-ing in a club will always involve a lot of noise. There are a lot of people there, which on their own produce an enormous amount of noise, and than there is ofcourse the music.

Train your ears to filter out what sounds you do and what sounds you don't need. It takes some time getting used to, but once you've got that covered things will be a lot easier.

If possible, try playing on a pretty loud volume in your own room, just to get used to the loudness.

I can mix virtually on any setup, just because i've trained my ears to it.

I once played in a club where the main speakers were about 15ft. away from me, and pointed directly towards me. There was no monitor available, and the crowd was just 6 ft. away yelling and screaming.

Practice makes perfect i guess.
