DJ Matt Hardwick and the Promise club night at Foundation in Newcastle are to team up to do a night in aid of cancer charities.
The night, entitled ‘Matt Just 4 U’, will see Promise favourite Hardwick play a five hour set on Friday 26th November 2004. Also on the bill will be up and coming DJ’s and friends of Matt, Dewi Roberts and Aled Mann.
Promise will also be hosting one of the biggest clubbing message board meet ups ever. Proceeds from the night will go to cancer charities including the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Promoter Mark Deakin said: "For a person of any age to be hit with cancer is devastating, but for teanagers it is doubly cruel.
This 1st of 4 charities to benefit from the night is one of the most worthwhile i have ever come across."
Speaking about the night, Hardwick said: “I’m really looking forward to this gig and I have already started working on my set.
“Promise are arranging a huge board meet up so it would be fantastic if everyone could join in the party and make it one of the largest meet ups ever.”
He also had kind words to say about his warm-up DJ’s on the night, Roberts and Mann.
“I was really impressed by their set at Wakestock this year so suggested to Promise that they do the honours.
“For me, the scene is all about innovation and part of this is bringing new and exciting producers and DJs through. Wherever I can help this happen I will!”
On Matt’s own message board, Dewi Roberts commented: “It will be great to play at Promise, and then finally taste what its like from the other side of the decks, as I’ve wanted to visit the club for years.”
Deakin, added: “Personally, I’m really looking forward to this night.
”Matt played the very first few Promise nights five years ago and since then has turned into one of the best and most respected DJ's I’ve ever heard or met.
“The last 5 hour set Matt did for us was probably one of the best nights we have ever had. A night that made me proud of the people I knew and proud of the human spirit that came out of September 11th.
”Therefore we feel it's right that this night benefits another important cause.”
The massive message board meet up will take place between 8pm and 10pm in Foundation on the same night with the talented Disko Bitch providing the tunes. Any message board member will receive discounted entry.
The five hour Matt Hardwick set will take place at Promise @ Foundation, Newcastle on Friday 26th November with doors open 9pm-4am.
