NICHOLAS BENNISON - Nov 20 - Northern Virginia/DC

http://www.nicholasbennison.com

NICHOLAS BENNISON's popularity rose through the mid to late ‘90s after performing powerful and technically brilliant sets at hundreds of events each year and mixing two of the US’ best selling Trance Global Nation CD’s. Aside from boasting impressive sales numbers, TGN2 garnered rave reviews in the national press and was named one of the Top Twenty CDs of 1999 by Mixer magazine. Based on the success of TGN2, Nicholas was invited back to mix the forth CD in the series, second time round having full control over the track selection. TGN4 was released during 2000; a tougher and intelligent album representative of Nicholas’ true underground sound. To support the CD‘s, Nicholas headlined the Trance Global Nation Tour (featuring Jerry Bonham, D:Fuse, & Doran) and visited cities throughout North & South America, Canada and Asia. Nicholas’ third officially licensed CD, Crystal Vol.2, was released through AM Recordings in 2001 as another testament to his unique and uncompromising style.

As a producer today, Nicholas has crafted a powerful sound and his tracks are played by Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk, Seb Fontaine, Christopher Lawrence, John 00 Fleming, Nick Warren, and Max Graham. This year alone, Nicholas' tracks have been licensed to Ferry Corsten’s ‘Infinite Euphoria’ mix CD (Ministry of Sound), Marco V’s ‘Combi:Nations’ (Universal Music) and played regularly on BBC Radio One‘s Essential Mix (UK), Ministry Of Sound Radio (UK), Kiss FM (UK) and ID&T Radio (Holland). Nicholas also heads up his own Los Angeles based label, Propulsion Records, which has made a huge mark internationally with its unique sound. In addition to his regular output on Propulsion, Nicholas also has 12” releases on Duty Free’s Intensive label (UK), Acting Out Records (Sweden), Source of Gravity/Gravitation (UK), and Looq (USA).

Nicholas performs at major events such as Nocturnal Wonderland, Together As One, Destiny, Spundae, Giant, Ra, La Boom and many more through North America and beyond. At Mass-Transit3, Nicholas will throw down an exclusive 3 hour set not to be missed."

“This mans name has been appearing in DJ's charts all over the World. His pure talent has pushed him to the level he is at today and it wont be long until this guy explodes.”
- John 00 Fleming, IDJ Magazine (June 2004)

“Mr. Bennison is one of the hottest producers out there.”
- Christopher Lawrence, Remix Magazine (August 2004)

As seen in the Washington Post:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...9-2004Sep9.html

We are STILL actively looking for djs to play at our Wednesday night events. Please come to any party and drop off a CD and talk to us.

This is a friendly, relaxed event, with great people and great music. We're taking a big chance booking a trance headliner in the suburbs, so I hope people come out to support us!

Bridges is located at:

Hi Josy,

Nicholas is an amazing performer. You should go regardless of the location. But as for me if the venue is shit its not worth the trip I would have to make. I hope he gets a gig at an established nice venue in the North East.

Hey, I have to say, I agree with you, it's kind of a dive, but I've been around long enough to remember when the legendary parties were all at complete shitholes and warehouses.

That said, because of the first two Mass Transit events (with Scott Henry and Charles Feelgood), they were able to buy a brand new sound system and redecorate the venue, and the crowd is COMPLETELY different at Mass Transit and the Wednesday night Transit parties than it is on their other nights.

We had Charles Feelgood last saturday, and the vibe was incredible. It was all party kids, not preppies at all.

We've all been around the DC scene for a long time, and we are close friends with the Buzz crew and other local promoters, and we're exclusively promoting underground music and local DJs.

Give it a chance. We are only doing this because we love the music and we love the parties. We're all big fans of Bennison's and play his tracks all the time, so this is a big deal for us, and we're taking a real chance booking someone with so little name recognition in DC.
------------------------

Btw, fairfax is about a half hour drive from DC, so it's very close.

And no, if you don't live in the DC area, I probably wouldn't recommend a road trip (how's that for honesty from a promoter), but if you're in the area, and vibe and music is more important than showing up at the hottest club in town, it's well worth going to.

since when was it a club? Its a bar. And this is coming from someone who frequented O'Tooles in Centreville and Shark Club. I hear nothing about good things about Transit and if im not mistaken, Empath opened for Tiesto at Nation this year so lets wish them the best of luck.

Yep, same empath that opened for Tiesto, as I like to tell every single new person that I meet...

I should print up business cards: "DJ Empath: Tiesto Opener (former)"

Okay, so people should remember that ultimatly the party is not about the venue, it's about the people and the music.

I've heard lots of people tell me that Transit was worth visiting, and as a result, today will be my first appearance at the party.

I hope to see some of you out and aboot at the next Mas Transit

1) What do you have in store for us at Mass-Transit3?

An energetic blend of progressive and tough and techy trance. Lots of new and unreleased tunes and probably a few favs from past years.

2) When / where was the last place you played on the east coast?

Its been a while... Last time I played in DC was a couple of years back at a club called “Cloud 9”.

3) With all of the recent press surrounding your latest releases (revention, slidestream / drivetrain mechanics), what's next for NB?

My next 12” release on Propulsion is “Archetype” with a special remix by Chris Cowie. Following that is an original track by Chris, “Reeva,” which I remixed. I also have forthcoming releases/remixes on Five AM, Source of Gravity, Gravitation and Inkfish’s Acting Out label. In addition to my own releases I have a number of wicked tunes by other artists ready for release on Propulsion for the rest of 2004 and 2005.

4) Who has been the biggest influence on your style and passion for EDM?

All the producers whose tracks I have played over the years are my greatest source of inspiration. Of particular mention is Chris Cowie who wrote most of the Hook & Bellboy Recordings releases under a slew of different aliases. His sound was something I identified with right from the beginning. A decade later he’s still pumping out special release after special release. I also have a lot of respect for Christopher Lawrence who has always championed the underground trance sound.
