Bah.
Sorry. I just can't get into this type of "science". What do RNG's have to do with global consciousness? How could an RNG machine measure it in the first place? Why would it be guided by human consciousness and not, say, a far stronger electrical impulse like TV, radio or telephone, all of which would have more widely used than usual during the tragedy? That is, assuming that there was an improbable degree of "pattern" to the randomly generated numbers in the first place?
Now Mike Perry - the mathematician in that article - suggested this sort of thing "might belong more to the realm of philosophers" so, as a (bedroom) philosopher, allow me to express how perverse I consider this new-age, pseudo-scientific bullcrap to be. It exploits (by putting forward bullshit as scientific fact) people who are unable to tell the difference between different standards of "fact". No philosopher would bother analysing this due to the astounding amount of conjecture and unfounded assumption that's gone into this theory. Even if they have got some unusually organised patterns of numbers, it goes no way towards proving that gloabl consciousness exists - in fact it could prove a whole lot of other things if you had the imagination to sit around for a couple of hours and conceive them all.
Look, I'm not trying to be patronising, but stop trying to find a hidden meaning in what happened on september 11, because you're either going to end up disappointed or duped - and neither of these alternatives are going to make you feel any better about the events of that day.

LOL...who said im trying to find a hidden meaning behind the events that transpired on sept. 11? i just find the idea of global consciousness interesting, and i would've found it interesting enuff to post had it happened on any other day as well...
yeah, but i know its kinda hard to understand the connection between sum RNGs and global consciousness...but for those who wanna really get into it, go to
http://noosphere.princeton.edu/ <---that site gives u TONS of all kinds of info on this project, and yes, it is backed by princeton university!!
i'm quoting this directly from there:
"The project builds on excellent experiments conducted over the past 35 years at a number of laboratories, demonstrating that human consciousness interacts with random event generators (REGs), apparently "causing" them to produce non-random patterns. A description of the technical implementation is given under procedures." ("procedures" is a hyperlink on that page)
u can also email the project director (his email is on the bottom of the page)
gonna do that rite now
peace
