I'm missing a wire

Hi,

I've just boguht my setup. Got it home and set up the turntables, mixer and amp. I'm missing the lead from the mixer to the amp. I don't know what kind of cable i need. All i know is that there are 2 sockets left on my mixer, Output left & right. I've also got about 10 sockets on my amp. AUX, Rec, Phono, Tuner & Play, each with 2 sockets each. What wire would i need and what slot would this wire go into? cheers.

You need plain old RCA cables
Thats them!

At each end are 2 plugs (Left channel, Right Channel) Plug them into the aux of the amp and into the out of the mixer. They are normaly colour coded. Normaly they use Red and black or Red and white.

Thanks. Iv'e just been down to the electrical shop at the end of my road to buy it. I've connected it up, but it didn't work. The cables are all connected up properly, but i think it's my amp. No sound comes out. It's an old amp, which i got from my mate. He says he hasn't used it for 5 years and doesn't know if it works. I have got somespeakers, the wires on them ahvn't got a plug, so i just wrapepd the wires round some little knob thingy. That should work but i think it's my amp.

One question, i'm going to buy another amp. Can the RCA cable connect into any amp?

Cheers

all speaker wires do not include banana plugs. both the amp and the speakers can be connected without banana plugs.

you need to unscrew those "nobby things" and you will start to see a hole being exposed as the "nobby thing" moves away from the speaker. the raw, stripped speaker wire needs to be inserted into the hole and then you need to screw down the "nobby thing" so that it holds the speaker wire in place.

what kind of amp is it? what kind of speakers?

I'm not really sure from my head what kind of amp and speakers they are. I will have a look when i get home. But i did unscrew the nobby things and insert the wires inside, then screw the nobby things back into place. The amps power was actually one because a red light came up to show the amps power was switched one. I don't really know what the problem is.

Do i need any other wires? All i've got is an RCA cable plugged into the output sockets of the mixer, the other end is plugged into the AUX socket on the amp. Then the speakers are put into the nobby things. Any suggestions?

Would this be ok? Powered Speakers They arn't that powerful but it has everything to get started.

Cheers
Chris

Chris, make sure whatever you plugged the RCAs into on the back of the amp (Line-In, Video-1, Video-2, etc) is selected to play. It might be set on Phono or something while your RCAs are leading into Line-In.

Well, i plugged the RCA cables into the AUX sockets on the amp. I will try and get something to get it going. I'm not very good with this kind of equipment, so that doesn't help.

I would have it plugged into Line and then make sure Line is selected on the front of the AMP.
