Its not bad, I know DannyO got 1 of his tables for 375Cdn... but that was an MK2, but it did have a Ortofon needle...

Not exactly... just a different model number and few small differences... Like the Blue LED's 16% pitch... no 0 notch, slightly improved tonearm (?? someone correct me if I'm wrong)..

Actually that one was 325Cdn with an Ortofon Concorde Scratch, with 2 extra styli, and it was all in mint condition.

But like J:\ said, get yourself some used Techs and good needles, then either the PCV-275, or with the spare money you could go higher, or spend the extra on records or an effects pad, but thats gettin abit crazy for starting out.

ive been producing for over a year now with a musical background going back 8 or so years. just got an access virus b today. its a very complex instrument. mind bogglingly so. even though i understand the basics of subtractive synthesis i admit, this synth and its feature set go way beyond what i expected of this instrument. it has me stumped half the time. the mod matrix alone is gigantic not to mention the fact that if you havent had any experience with working with oscillators, filters and envelopes you'll be in for a shock with the virus. virus b has various levels of saturation stages between filters. unlike most VSTi's you have to think about routing filters in series or parallel. the frequency modulation (fm synthesis) aspect of the synth is confusing if you dont know anything about fm synthesis. the fact that alot of the features of the virus are hidden away in little menus on that tiny lcd display makes things even harder, especially when most of those features are so abstract. not to mention the fact you need to learn about MIDI and the fact you will need a midi interface soundcard, which depending on how many studio peripherals you plan on hooking up to your pc can get very expensive. it all adds up to a very powerful but very unfriendly synth. i maintain the best place to start production is with an easy to use host like floops and a VSTi like vanguard. vanguard has the basics. oscillators (+ sub oscillator for each one). a filter. an envelope. some easy to use FX. no bullshit in between. no mod matrix hidden away in pop up menus. no programmable arp. no saturation levels or frequency modulation on the oscillators. what you see on the control surface of vanguard is all you need to build an instrument. its a fuck sight easier to program than a virus. and it sounds fab too. getting a copy of cubase and a virus having had no former experience with music production would be like one of the biggest mindfucks you could ever do to yourself.
