I deal with this topic all the time since I'm studing economic geography and poli sci in school.
Simply put, the Canada provides the American market with both cheap material inputs (mostly energy, ie: coal, oil, gas but other goods like lumber and auto parts as well) and an outlet for finished goods. Canada-US trade is mutually beneficial. Just because the US military protects Canada doesn't mean that it's OK to invade it.
I love watching republicans on TV they say the stupidest things! Especially when she said that Canada attracts only the worst type of Americans, like the liberals. The "L-word" has become the newest republican catch-phrase. Watch out, the liberals are coming!!
