Unless Sony has fixed the hinge problem, the Sony's will break at the hinge, especially if you use the headphone bag that comes with it as it puts unneeded stress on the hinge.

With that said, if you know someone who works for Circuit City, you can pick up Sony 700's for around $70.

try the sony 7506s, i hear they are much better than the mdrv700.

as well as what others have posted, it'll be worth your while looking at the sennheiser hd280s, fantastic headphones.

the sonys are good if you take good care of them, but there are alot of people out there who have them and they cracked and broke at the swivel, coincedentally, the 700s at the best buy in my town are also broken at the swivel

that being said, if you end up getting the sonys, take good care of them but dont expect them to last more than a year to a year and a half

im going to be getting the Stantons this weekend, so we'll see how they feel

right now i have the sony v600 which have lasted me almost a year(Xmas) and theyve been absolutely perfect accept for the fact that they arent as flexible as the 700

the 7506 is "the same" as the v600 only its built alittle different, the wires stick out whereas the v600 everything is built into the headband and all

the HDJ1000 are said to be really good as far as sound quality but they seem to have the same downfall as so many other v700s breaking at the swivel and all as well as many reports of signal loss in either the right or left side

sennheisers havent had many(if any) complaints that ive seen and are said to have great sound and comfort, my only problem with them is the way they look and how big they are, but knowing me i'll probably end up buying a pair sooner or later

ive heard(read) the Stanton 2000s are rock solid and have good sound

one thing ive noticed as far as headphones go -

you seem to sacrifice looks for quality and vice versa so whichever tickles your fancy

I have the DJPro 3000's and they are awsome! Very comfortable with great sound, durability, flexabilty and look! They are very loud! I haven't had the chance to compare them though...

The only DJ headphones I would personally pay for are Sennheisers HD25, HD280, Or Sony 7506. I think the Senns beat out the Sonys but the 7506s are still nice.

for those of u with pioneers that are experiencing sound loss in either of the cans, its easily fixable and i made a tutorial on how to fix it on here some time ago. . .

the reason why signal is cuttin out is because the wires inside the can are bare thus shorting when the red and black make contact. Just open up ur cans, put some tape around the wires and youre done.
