The vaccine is made from a patient's own dendritic cells and HIV isolated from the patient's own blood. Dendritic cells are crucial to the immune response. They grab foreign bodies in the blood and present them to other immune cells to trigger powerful immune system responses to destroy the foreign invaders.

This 'vaccine' is not the silver bullet doctors have been looking for to prevent HIV infections.
Rather, this vaccine is just used to treat people with chronic HIV infection. Therefore, it treats (not cures) people that already have the infection, but does not prevent others from being infected.
A person on this vaccine could also infect others if risks are not prevented.

Yea, but it's still a huge step in the right direction.

just because they have a vaccine, people arent gonna go out there and have sex with just anyone
but im very glad they're moving in the right situation and getting more answers. as long as we can prevent it happening then maybe in the next 10-20 years we'll have little or no cases of AIDS or HIV...
