Jamie Styles: If you could choose any singing legend to work with at the moment who would it be?

Paul: I would like to work with Dr Dre and Eminem. I think lyrically Eminem is brilliant and very clever. I think he is misunderstood and Dre is a great producer, simple in his approach, but brilliant.

Hmmmm are u suggesting that Oakie is pathetic because he thinks that Dre and Eminem is good ? Dude I love Trance music and it's the only music that i listen to but Rap isn't that bad either...and Dre is a legend in the rap world.

Give Oakie a break....the man is a legend and has done things for the scene that no other DJ/Producer has done. I'm not an Oakie freak but u have to respect certain things.

i don't listen to Rap and i'm not dissing people who listen to Rap but do u think Eminem & Dre are music legends ? excuse me ? do u compare them to real music legends like The Rolling Stones , The Beatles or others ?

I'm not saying that Eminem is a legend...he just came in a few years ago...he is a very innovative rapper though and whatever u say about him, his lyrics are quite good...I used to listen to RAP 5-4 years ago and so I can appreciate that unlike other white boy rappers like Vanilla Ice, Eminem is very talented.

The point is that if Oakie wants to collaborate with other artists from other Genre's then we (as the Trance community) should wait and see what he comes up with instead of passing judgement. I for one am curious to see what Oakie + Dre could do...I'm not saying that it will be the best thing to happen to trance but to say that Oakie is pathetic for trying or that he should retire is rediculous !!!

Oakie has always been a pioneer in the music scene...that is a fact...he was slamming epic tracks when other DJ's were spinning acid house...then when it became popular all the other (I won't name them but they're quite famous now) followed suit. Oakie is a path breaker...so let's support him !

exactly bro, if only people just realize like you Oakie is a pioneer, he didn't do dis 4 nothing, he's spinning like dis coz he dedicated his life musik, another stupid thread, last time it was Tiesto vs. Oakie, same kind of thread Kytracid is right, people read some interview and just dont get da point

i know that it's too early to judge him or something , but don't u think it's time for him to retire ? it's true that he has done a lof of things (good or bad) to the scene , but everything has an end . Do u think it's good for the scene to be associated with rap/hip-hop ? i don't think it is ...

I wasn't saying that because he said he would like to work with Dre and M&M... I said it because of the music he plays and the performance he gives....but then again, it's my personnal opinion...

Yeah, I agree with the critics of this post...In case you were unaware, which I'm sure that you were, before Oakenfold was a superstar dj, he was a producer for many r/b and hip hop groups, way before trance blew up.

Don't take what he's saying to mean something, when you don't really know what's going on.

I like the way that we can have a good discussion on this baord without flaming each other. But to get back to the argument I don't know what Rap/Hip Hop and Trance would sound like...but that's exactly why we have to wait and find out...who knows...it might sound good.

I haven't heard Oakie live recently but I have heard that his last few sets have been dissapointing, but that's no reason for him to retire. U have to understand that Paul Oakenfold is more then just a DJ...he is a producer, a promoter and an innovater. The man has does more then spin music so just because his recent performances are bad doesn't mean that he can't contribute to the scene. Also when it comes to the question of whether he should retire...I'm sure the day that ppl stop loving the music Oakie spins or makes then he will HAVE to retire...I think that most ppl give Oakie crap because they still want him to spin the Epic Trance that he used to 2 years ago, but like the true pioneer that he is he's moved on to other forms of trance music.

Most ppl don't realize that Trance music is not what defines Oakie. He was spinning Acid House and Goa way before the epic trance thing because popular...Oakie played a major part in briging Trance to the limelight and making it soo popular. Listen to his old sets and you'll find that a lot of DJ's (even though they won't admit it) have been influenced by his style and are doing today what he was doing a few years ago.

Once again i'm not a Oakie fan...but the man has done great things for the scene and I hate it that ppl forget about all that...
