complimenting melodies?

I made this post a while ago

i dont know if you remember but

i posted this sample with two melodies which did not go well together at all but ive been practicing so here is what i came up with

this is the old sample
http://www.geocities.com/moreofmywo...underground.mp3

and this is the new sample
http://www.geocities.com/moreofmywo...tter_sample.mp3

a lot of people replied that the sounds were not right and did not go together so let me know ,how this new sample sounds compared to the older mp3.

thanks club kid

Sorry, where exactly is the melody?

This is like subversive stuff that is very unstructured. I dont think it does work imo.

Umm...I don't really notice any kind of melody at all in both of these samples.

You have to understand that a melody is a phrase consisting of different segments which, in some way, should relate to each other. This sounds like some random stuff tossed together imo.

I'd suggest reading a little about musical theory! That might help alot. I couldn't really make out any melody here either. Maybe you're trying a little too hard? Download some midis from that nice midi page on the top of this forum, and study the progression and structure of some of those.

I'm sorry man, didn't like that.

Like Beijer said - study some music theory.

One thing about that "Better_sample.mp3" - skip the voicesample.

A melody is the actual tune of a tune (if that makes sense). Think of any riff of other tracks and that is the melody.

Just listen to any song man.. Listen to the music you love the most, and you should be able to see what needs to be done. Better yet, as I said earlier, dl some midi files and see how the melodies are made. Complex areggios can be hard to understand how to create without having actually seen some examples. There's really no point in posting an "example" of a melody.

Ok... uuuh... dude... stop making that noise man..

first one sounds like you just pressed random keys on the keyboard, there is no definite drumbeat or melody, jsut random shit. And the second one, which is supposed to be a new and improved version of the old one, doesn't sound anything like it :S although it also sounds bad

I don't mean to be annoying, but a melody has to have.. well.. melody and rhytm! not just random notes played on the keyboard (unless of course it sounds good by accident, but this doesn't ). You should learn music theory, or at least listen to some music so you get a sense of what sounds good and what doesn't sound right. If you can't *feel* the difference, then maybe music isn't for you..

There is a thing called harmony, and that means that the note that comes next in the song *matches* the previous note. Songs have keys, like C major or B minor, and each of these keys include notes that sound in a certain way when played together in a song. Not everything sounds good, or *right*, and that's because the note you are using isn't included in that key (This is a very basic explanation, of course there are exceptions, but the best way to find out what sounds good is just to listen!)

no music is for me ! its what i want and I have lots of ideas and all ,i just have to work a lot harder on my melodies and put it all together.

imo a melody is in essence, a derivative of the actual lead that basically accompanys and compliments the melody of course in that right key and major.
