SW pres. Jagermaestro - Quarter Century (Markus Schulz setrip)

Hey all,

Been ages since I've posted anything, because I've been too lazy to finish any of my productions. This is the first track I've finished since Time Lapse. It's a totally different style (hence the alias), and more of a bassline driven melodic prog affair. This is a setrip of it from last week's Global DJ Broadcast:

link removed due to bandwidth issues

Feedback is welcome; hope you like it!

Heh, why would you post a setrip of your own tune... ?

Anyways, downloading...

Well what can I say, quality work all around... though I would had preferred a bit more percs there, they seemed a bit too simple for the tune. The chord progression sounds very familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it...

...though it would be nice to hear the same clip with a bit less reverb and compression

The setrip is a convenient way for me to post the entire track in decent quality without it jeapordizing any chances of it being signed to a label.

There actually are a lot of percs, but the high-hats pretty much get crunched to death by the GDJB compression, which tends to slam the midrange to hell and leaves everything else in its wake =P As for the chord progression, the notes of the bassline have probably been used in a thousand other tracks (at least), but if the melody resembles any other track to a great degree it'd be news to me.

Thanks for the comments!
(PS. I'll have some news on your Al Azar track this weekend)

Yeah, I thought it might've been the compression that did the trick...
To my ears the melody is unique, it was just the bassline notes that caught my attention - it's not a big deal though

I don't think I even have you on my MSN list btw...

yeah, that gdjb compression eats away at the track. sounds just like how sean described it, add in some windshield wipers and an outboard motor and you're got it!

that melody and lead sounds pretty good! i had doubts about time lapse and found myself a firm believer after being floored by it at clubs, having a very distinct sound. this, i have no doubts now, so i'm sure it'll do more than well.

yeah, that bass/kick combo does sound oddly familiar, but then again, there's only so much one can do, true? (sort of ozgur can, probspot ish, but not quite, i can't place it either dude, hehe).

nice break beats in the breakdown, im still a sucker for those in an interlude to take a shot at keeping a floor tuned in (which is the drawback sometimes from some big trancers, and djs who hit you with a series of 2 min breakdowners in a row and put a floor to a halt).

ill definitly be giving this a few more listens.
