Quick Question (Production Software)

I've been DJ'ing on my computer for a little while now, but I can't really do anything with the mixing software to really spice songs up, so now I'm looking for some beginner production software, so that I can remix and even make my own tracks.

Any quick recommendations, a few merits of the software, etc? Thanks.

(No doubt this has been posted before, but search is down and I looked for a few pages and didn't see anything).

Hopefully a mod can move this post over to the production side of things, but here is a stab at your query...

There really is no quick and easy way to remix a track (unless you are remixing hip hop, then all you have to do is have a mic and say "Remix"). When remixing a track, you are going to need to still learn the theory behind music and what not. The best place to start would be the production forum and looking into the tutorials on how the songs are actually built. Next would be to get a program like Reason or Fruity Loops and see if you cant take what you just read about and apply it. The good programs like Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton, etc.. have a bigger learning curve and are more professional based programs.

Hope this gives a quick answer to your question.

Get Fruity! No seriously look into Fruity loops, imo the best prod prog out there, i still use it. Its easy to use and all that. And the production forum is great to learn stuff. and as onceler said its not that easy. Study music for a while maybe. I myself read a book on music theory even after playing guitar for over 10 years. And quickly you'll find that producing EDM is a lot more than music theory. And if thats too much just remix some hip hop. And you can do that in just two easy steps...and with cheaper software (windows sound recorder). So there ya go, have fun
