Keyboards and Synths

Ey mates I have got a question. Which do you think is better having, a keyboard that comes with synths and effects on it that hooks up to your pc, or just a plain keyboard with no synths and effects on it that hooks up to your computer and you just use various programs to make the synth and other noise effects? If just a regular keyboard which programs work best with it being able to make a wide varity of sounds since i wont have the effects of a full blown high tech keyboard?

I like the letting the computer make the synths...usually its a lot cheaper that way too

I would get a MIDI keyboard that I could use with my computer or stand alone synths for maximum flexibility.

This is basically a question of hardware vs. software.
