The best track I remember hearing a DJ drop at 12:00 was Carl Cox in 2000 in Hawaii I think. The count down happened, and then he dropped the Hybrid remixed of Phuture 2000.

Requiem For A Dream played by Orkidea on last NYE was fucking genius.

a track from a Jamie Allen NYE set.. can't remember the track name... but was soooo sweet...
DannyO might know the track name...
That would be Level - Good Morning (Matt Darey Mix) on Wonderboy records, but there were no more than 100 made, and that vocal you hear in it is a looped sample that has had its temp dropped.
For me it would be Pervading Call - Destiny (Aces Delight Instrumental), it is a classic but still fairly new, and hasn't been hammered to much, it has the perfect buildup with its quiet subtle style, then right when the clock strikes 12:00 you have it timed with the end of the buildup and have the beat smash right the fuck back in sending a massive surge through everyone, would work like a charm, I'd add a little of my own flavour to the track to give it that special edge for the occasion, but not to much.
