Well as an old pro in webdevelopment, all I can say is that, you can never be 100% sure, but you can try to make it as difficult as possible for hackers. Be sure to upgrade your software, and use "best practise" coding standards when you develop your website. Taking regular backups of your entire setup for offline storage is also a good idea, so that if you get hacked you won't loose data.
For TA specificly it would be a good idea to make sure that
1: it is runing on the latest version of apache/php
2: the used version of vbullitin doesn't have any known security holes.
