Beginner lookin to make a mix

Well i have been spinning for over 1.5 years now and have always had an interest in production but i have never had the inspiration to go thorugh with anything ive fooled around with. I was wondering if anyone would let me make a mix to someone's track. This will probably be the first track that i will take seriously and would greatly appreciate any offers and help from others.

Umm... there were like plenty of tracks floating around and people starting threads about remixing each other's stuff... The problem is - many folks here tend to think their tune is label-worthy and sit on it like a hen, thinking something will hatch and god forbid someone steals my idea.

That's my thought.

I'm still hoping to get an answer to my question - the one I posted about a year ago: "How does one go about starting a remix of a commercial tune"?

no luck thus far...

The real question to ask however is how does mixing someone else's track really help you learn? I've gone through a lot of learning for the 3 years i've been producing and I've found that the absolute best way to learn something is to take a couple songs that you enjoy the most and try to do an exact imitation of it from scratch.

This is usually the hardest part for beginners, b/c who wants to be recreating something that they can't show off to people? We all want to make some massive original tune that gets signed. To be a successful producer you need the following (in decreasing order of importance): 1) Hard work, 2) Talent, and 3) a little bit of luck.

I would say try to learn techniques, try to figure out how that cool beat was made, or how that awesome bassline was made. And apply that knowledge to your own style to create something original and interesting. You don't get good by creating something mediocre and thinking to yourself how good you are and trying to recreate that same mediocre stuff. But you become good by having each track being better than your previous one, and by making everything you produce to the absolute best of your ability.

Just a little 2 cents.
If you use FLStudio, I can send you some things to help you get started, but I can't really send you my projects at all not because I am afraid of people stealing it, but rather b/c each project takes up about 100 megs of rendered components (I tend to render about half of all the components for my track as wav) and I include many VST's and other stuff that would be too much of a hassle to get it working properly.

Anyways, good luck on your producing adventure. If you want any help and you use FL, you can ask me for some at [email protected] and i wouldn't mind giving you a hand.
