Clicking on my synths

With almost every synth it seems that there is a high pitched clicking when the LP filter is turned down really low.

Why does this happen, if all high frequency sounds are being filtered out why is there still this high frequency sound coming through ?

I ask this question to better understand how to eliminate it.
Usually i will adjust the amp envelope or use an external filter to eliminate the sound.

But sometime it will cut out the harmonics to much and ruin the character of the sound its self. This happens in perticular with 16th basslines on Emagic's ES1 synth.

Why does this happen and what can be done about it ?

I could be wrong but i think it has to do with the attack setting you have on your oscillator.. that's far from a reason.. wow, someone help me out here :P

depending on the architecture of the synth, a lot of them have very fast envelops and tend to cause a small clicking noise when notes are triggered...This is common in some Harware synths...I havent heard this in software..but then again I don't use much soft synths. I know that in some HD synths it can also happen from voice stealing, but that shouldn't be a problem in a soft synth since you can change the number of voices in almost all soft synths. I don't know if your talking about just software or both hard and soft.

I'm experiencing this with software synths, and the only thing I've come up with is not to trigger the cutoff that low.

Thanks for the replies so far.

This does happen with almost every synth that i have used hard or soft. Not all the time though. Im mostly concerned when im making a 16th bassline. Need the snappy attack but the filter needs to be turned way down to get the driving sound.

If you use logic im sure that you would have experienced it on the ES1, its the worst for this.
