Be Cool! Sequencers for Linux

Does anyone know if there are any GOOD sequencers for linux? I've been able to find several, but I haven't been able to test them out yet. But i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. Also does anyone know if they would support VST? My guess is no, but I never know for sure unless I ask right? Anyway I'm just experiencing with linux at the moment until I can get a new computer up and running...thanks in advance.

I dont think that there is any support for VST's in Linux as it only supported Sound Blaster compatible cards when I installed it.. But that was a while ago..

This is the only reasonable one I've been able to find. Tho haven't tested it yet, cause don't have linux box at home.

Rosegarden

And about native vst support in linux isn't happening until Steinberg ports their VST sdk for linux. But there are ways, i've heard, but not all plugins work.

Linux The only Free Route In the Commercial World

AGNULA (acronym for A GNU/Linux Audio distribution, pronounced with a strong g) is the name of a project funded by the European Commission (number of contract: IST-2001-34879; key action IV.3.3, Free Software: towards the critical mass).

www.agnula.org

This linux operating system is specifically designed for a studio on a computer. Though it may take some reading or learn as to what it does. There are over 100 music applications. And you can even create your own synths. It comes in two flavors. Debian and Redhat. I have installed in personally and found that it runs really smoothly and the GUI ROCKS! I used Demundi the debian install.

PlanetCCRMA (KARMA)

The Stanford University Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics is a multi-disciplinary facility where composers and researchers work together using computer-based technology both as an artistic medium and as a research tool.

I have not used this one but it is Redhat Based.

APODIO ET MIN-APODIO
STATION AUDIO COMPLTE SUR DISTRIBUTION CD LIVE BOOTABLE
(AUDIO WORKSTATION ON A LIVE CD BOOTABLE DISTRIBUTION)

http://www.apo33.org/

I have not used this one and it is Mandrake based
Here is a site for Rpms for Mandrake based distro
http://rpm.nyvalls.se/

Called THAC rpms (rpms for Mandrake)

Enjoy testing these distros out. The only I have used thus so far is Agnula and it kicks major ass!! There is soo much to experiment with. At the same time there is a a buttload of sequencers, synths and much much more. hehe I farted.

I know these arE just an OS and no vsti support has been talked about for linux. If you really want that Wine would have to be used in this occasion. For more information I highly recommend this website for learning how to apply vsti support to linux distros. It is recommended that you install a OS from above then use this link below to setup the rest. It will save you a lot of time unless you are not a newbie and you know what you are doing. Enjoy

what the fuck does that ahve to do with creativity. running in kde or gnome imo would make me alot more creative then windows.... and music production would probly be alot better becuase of the minimal amount of cpu usage the os is accutally taking away from the host..... however like i said i wonder if you could in lindows.....
