Brio

After just 3 years, Brio (a.k.a Brandon Orlando) is rapidly becoming one of Atlanta’s upfront breakbeat dons. Fusing his lifetime of musically drenched ambition with a knowledgeable, overflowing palette of artistic influences, Brio is bringing to light a new way of interpreting breakbeat in Atlanta.
In early 2001, after a switch over from the classical training in guitar, piano, and voice, Brio began to explore the depths of electronica and its ability to reproduce sounds not made on the ‘classical’ instruments he had trained on his early life. He took his already considerable record collection and began honing his mixing skills. From there, he immersed himself in the world of drum and bass - a music which combined the speed of his earlier punk rock roots alongside the electronic bleeps, squeals, and effects that comprised the music and scoring of his other love - science fiction and fantasy films. He was a resident with Anger Management Productions, and developed a flair for crowd pleasing. One night, after hearing the performances of Chris Carter and Rennie Pilgrem, Brio’s outlook on the brokenbeat radically changed, leading him to explore and develop what has become his current ‘sound’ of upfront tech-funk.
Brio’s latest demo, "Bath House Busybody" which fused the sounds of funky UK breakbeat with electro-house, was received by the Atlanta dance community with great enthusiasm. Soon after, he became a rotating resident at DJ/producer/promoter collective, Abstract Logic Recordings' weekly event, "Have a Nice F#$%!ng Day!", held in Atlanta, which allowed Brio to introduce an increasingly responsive audience to the latest in cutting edge breakbeat.
Currently beginning to produce tracks as well as working on a follow-up to his recent demo, Brio is always with one ear to the ground and an eye on the dance floor. Brio’s signature upfront breakbeat sound is guaranteed to move you, shake your body and rock your soul – again and again.
