£170 ($340) mixer recommendations?

so one of my mates finally got himself a pair of pioneer cdj 500 mkIIs and hes bouncing off the walls. we checked a few sites for mixers in the region of £170 ($340 approx) but i realised im not really well up on good budget mixers - most of the ones im familar with constitute stuff that are DJ fantasies and/or are ludicrously expensive

anywho. hes been looking at the following:

ecler smac pro 20 (£180, $360 approx)

gemini ps626i (£99, $200 approx)

gemini ps676i (£139, $280 approx)

numark DXM01USB (£134, $280 approx) [has a usb thingy which we havent got a clue about?]

stanton SA 3 (£165, $330 approx)

stanton SMX401 (£179, $360 approx)

apart from the ecler i dont really know much about the others. anyone here have any advice about mixers around this price range? i thought id consult the wise kings of the DJ booth regarding this matter before he goes and makes a retarded purchase. seeing as uhhhhh, im blatently gonna be using his rig any help would be much appreciated.

im in a similar position - i just got my decks recently and couldnt decide between a gemini ps626 and a behringer vmx300 (only £109). i know loads of people slag off behringer but ive never heard anything bad about the vmx (apparently its built like a tank) and i have a mate who owns one and says its really good so ive ordered one today and it should be delivered tomorrow!!!

You people are lucky, over here in aus a dxm01 is around $499 and 06 is about $150 more. Also buying overseas isnt realy worth it, besids the fact that you gotta import it and buy power converters etc etc, what if it brakes on ya?!
gotta have connections

for a simple, straight forward, doing the job mixer, look at the vestax vmc002 or the vmc004. great solid budget mixers that won't just fall apart..

the gemini ps626 is supposed to be pretty good too.

Vestax PCV 180 Mixer (£200), looks not bad. Is Vestax so should be solid. You could go the effects and stuff route of mixers but I'd advise against it, having tried that myself. This looks simple and solid.

yea i warned not to get sucked in by gimmicky effects units. ive been on a djm 600 and the effects on that are...limited to say the least. especially when you compare them to dedicated outboard effects units. but then again i suppose you pay for that.

anywho i heard some good things about the PCV180 but its a touch on the expensive side hes seriously reluctant not to spend more than £170. i would have recommended the PCV275 but yea, unfortuneately in the uk it does cost £275 looks shit hot though. vestax seems to be a popular choice around here and i omitted any of their mixers from the list. heheh. i can tell my friend from experience thats its better to go the extra 30, 40, £50, even get a job over semester break if you are gonna get something that you will use for a long time and like using. cheaper models might do for now, but more often than not you'll find yourself a year down the line wishing you had [insert feature here]. or wishing it stood up to the battering you gave it. so then, whats good about vestax's range of mixers? i thought vestax where famous for (quote. and i love this quote so much) 'making upside down shit'

whoever mentioned the DXM06 - that looks pretty decent! anyone used one of these before?

its got alot of extras like kills and effects but...how does it feel in operation? hard to explain but when i use my mate's DJM 500 theres alot of features that arent there (changeable crossover curves, kills etc) but it felt really good to use. the channel faders have this lovely resistance to them that makes flicking em really fun. the phono/line switches have this thick mechanical click! when you switch em. overall it just feels very well built. i know the DXM06 isnt gonna be a DJM 500 in the build quality department but how does it stack up? the rotaries and faders look cheapy and plasticky

cheers for all your suggestions people!
