song very popular in Europe c. 1995-1997 (?)

Can anyone identify this song? It seems like everybody's heard it, but nobody knows what it's called. I was in Europe Summer 1997 and it seemed like they played it every five minutes wherever I went. I've also heard it here in the US a few times. My friend and tried to recreate the melody from memory. The mp3 is here:

the track is called "Popcorn". The original is from the 80�s I think. This song has been covered so many times so it hard too say what version you heard.

Thank you!!! Seven years of searching have finally come to an end. The funny thing is, I know the orignal song by Hot Butter but it's been years since I heard it and I guess I didn't recognize it all trance-ified. Thanks again!!
