Good Video Capture Software?

does anyone have any of this? i know its expensive, but i want to put clips from Tiesto up for download... I video'd some of it and i have a capture AGP card on my computer (with Svideo - and i have the cord that converts it to triple RCAs)..... basically i have everything i need minus the software.

anyone know of a good software that lets you record off the camera?

Thanks!

You dont need *any* expensive ass capturing program, because VirtualDub beats all of them out, and it's free.

It's got many different configuration options, is rock stable, can capture in all kinds of resolutions, etc etc. It's the preferred capture program for most people running windows.

get it here: http://www.virtualdub.org/

..share those tiesto clips with us when you're done

Uh... bad news.

Didn't work. I plugged in the camcorder's RCAs to the plug on the back of the computer, and nothing appeared on the screen when i used VirtualDUB. I have another application that came with the video card of the computer, that lets me PLAY these videos from my camcorder, but not RECORD them... So i know the RCA's work.

When i tried to "acquire video" from Virtual Dub, it said "loading error" or "need drivers" or something.

Anyone else know of another program i could try? I want to get these Tiesto videos to everyone!

Good to see ya ABT!!

Hmm well you could try using Adobe Premiere 5 but if there's one thing i know it's that that prog is way overkill for simple projects (it's professional videoediting software). But if ya need to do this stuff and need the software - well pm me and I'll see what i can do.

Hey is your capture card by any chance a geforce card WITH capture din input? If so make sure you get the lastest drivers from the manufacturer of your card. Well same for all capture cards.

Tell me the name of the card if ya can and i'll see what info or advice i can give ya regarding it k?

Hey Tranz,

howya been bro? heh, not much new here, but i'll get the pics from the trip up soon....

back to the issue at hand... i have an ATI Rage something-er other... (its in the computer, so i can't remember)... it was around $160-$180 US if that helps... it has a startup bar with these options:

TV, DVD, Video CD, CD Audio, File Player..... I can watch TV on my computer, plug in my camcorder, etc... but not record. I think i can get Adobe Premiere 5 from the SSP..... will that work?

Its also just not the software i need, but help using it. I'm not really a computer savvy person (although i am trying really hard to be)....

Anyways, thanks Tranzmit for ya help!

Ok ok it's an ATI RAGE All-in-Wonder (correct me if i'm wrong) and yes it does capture video as far as i know

next you need to go to SSP and get premiere 5 and install it. Then i guess fiddle around with the settings to make sure it's set up properly and start capturing from the camcorder while playing the tape. Now since i haven't done much in the way of actually doing video editing i can't help ya more then that for now. But if you can give me a specific problem you run into doing this give me a bell again and i'll search for a solution for ya

It's for the good of all Tranceaddictkind right? lol

P.S. It's quite alright if ya know less about PC's. Thats what us pc nuts are for. But what do us techies do when our cars get stuffed? Why go see the car nuts of course

You are susposed to goto "File>Capture AVI" to capture video. Make sure there are no other capture programs open (like the viewing software that came with the video card).

Go here for a more detailed explanation:
http://www.teachers.ash.org.au/dbro...dub/capture.htm

Also, does the software that lets your VIEW the capture device work properly?

Thanks goodnet...

i was doing the "capture AVI" thing when i got that warning. And my other proggie was not open at the time. The viewing software works, but i have to select "SVIDEO" on it - the Virtual Dub proggie has nothing to select, so how does it know what to use as an input?

I dunno - i'm going to check out that page later tonight and i'll give you guys an update.... and download premiere as well...

Thanks for all the help!
