How Far are We From the Europe Scene

In the post about Danny Howels a good topic is brought up. Mark Scaife was quoted as saying we are behind the europe scene, I would say we are somewhere in the nether regions of being behind the scene. I want a fucking party with 20,000 people in Toronto. Someone needs to give mayor mel a nice pill and make him listen to trance.

I say give him drugs so that he could see past stoopid stereotypes and misconceptions about the parties.

But really, will we ever catch up? Or like PACO said "im going to spain".

well, we are definately a long way behind europe, i mean just one look at a video from sensation or trance energy or dance valley, and you get the picture...
will it ever catch up? i think it won't, but if it does, it won't be for a looong while...

Well... u have to think of it this way.... the whole electronic culture is still viewed as underground in NorthAmerica.

In Europe, its been mainstream for almost 10 years.
SO...... I say...... were behind 15 Years!
ahahah

TO may be behind in the large party category but Montreal isn't
They throw bashes at Molson Center, Olympic Stadium and Park Jarry.
Imagine hitting raves at Air Canada Center, Skydome and your largest Tennis facility? Eat your heart out, or just make the trip up!

vibe is more important than the size.............it's foolish to ever expect such large parties as the european ones with the vibe aswell........look at the cultural differences........north america is fuckin shit..........
we have to catch up in a lot of other ways before the party seen will..........one way would be to watch less reality tv shows......and tv in general, and to work less and play more............

peace

FUCK YEAH!
I'm glad someone noticed that... and I guess I'll be joining Paco on his move to Spain, since I don't feel like waiting another 10-15 years until the whole trance vibe catches on in this rotten society...

Peace out!

Ottawa people get on my nerves when all they do is bitch about Toronto (no not you stereoprincess) not being as good as Montreal. Whatever~

There is no doubt we are well behind the European scene. I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing tho. I still enjoy the underground feeling to it. And shit were not that underground, I've been to fairly big parties, shit. Back in the "Better Living Center" days Toronto would have 10,000+ people at parties.

A part of me wants everyone to experience trance, or at least a trance party. While another part of me gets sick of the idea of every dick head in town listening to Tiesto in their walkman.

Europe not only has huge raves, but there typical nightclubs on a weekend are incredible. I mean were getting Armin Van Burren in nov, and the place is shitting their pants. A normal club in the UK probably has AVB, Oliver Lieb, and PVD in one night.

Jon

Yep... and then some "above normal" clubs like Gatecrasher have PVD, Armin, Ferry, Tiesto, Oakenfold, etc. every single week!

I went to some better living centre ravers, well one, oakey and it was a great vibe, but I guess my issue lies in the fact that I have to wait for AVB to really get some amazing trance.

The upside of course is that you dont get your average schmuck thinking he is the trance hero, and the underground feeel is definetly good. But i need trance. I would even just be happy knowing that at a few clubs in toronto Thur, Fri Sat i can hear some trance music.

But Jdamage also made a good point, entirely differnt cultures that wont really ever be the same, whether the scene goes above the ground.

I'm not saying that the Montreal scene is better than TO. I've never partied in TO. What i am saying though is that Montreal has big parties at big venues with top notch lighting, facilities and setup. Montreal is the most European-like city in North America hence things aren't as underground. That's common knowledge so deal with it. What makes what better doesn't matter to me, if you have a complex based on these facts that it's your issue not mine.

So if that comment was directed towards me Halo20 than you know where you can stuff it. If not then ignore what i just said.
