ohhh shit thats where the helicopters were going in the morning....i wake up and im on my way to my car and i see like a zillion heli going over me....im like thinking it was cuz of the weather or something!!! shit dude thats bad news....u never see anythign bad happened in this part of town!!

The helicopters!!! I heard those things zoom over my house and thought it was the military, didn't even think that they might have had something to do with that derailment. A few people from my job were on the train. Apparently, they're in the hospital now.

yea i was back in glendale last night and earlier this morning, saw it on the news, pretty bad. i think the count now is 9 dead and 100 critically injured.

Ugh! How terrible! And to think it was all caused by some crazy dude who wanted to commit suicide and then chickened out!
This is the first time I can remember where one of these Metrolink trains took on a car… and lost! Usually the train just plows thru cars and is fine. And what a bad stroke of luck, that there was a train coming the opposite direction at the same time.
I take Metrolink to and from work everyday between Orange and Irvine, so this hits me pretty close. But ya know… it’s SO much better than driving. I got on my normal train this morning - fully knowing what had happened in Glendale, and wasn’t worried one bit.

Here's the latest update:
The following information has been released from Metrolink regarding this morning's accident:
Metrolink trains #901 (originates at Union Station to downtown Burbank) and #100 (originates in Moorpark to Union Station) sideswiped each other and both trains derailed near Glendale. There are confirmed fatalities and multiple injuries, and an investigation is underway.
For passengers going home this evening, the following will be helpful:
Antelope Valley Line Train #215 and Ventura Line Train #115 - Train will leave Union Station at 5:10 p.m. to Glendale. Passengers will leave train at Glendale for a bus to Burbank. Passengers will board train again at Burbank.
Antelope Valley Line Train #219 and Ventura Line Train #119 - Train will leave Union Station at 6:40 p.m. to Glendale. Passengers will leave train at Glendale for a bus to Burbank. Passengers will board train again at Burbank.
All trains in between (both Antelope Valley and Ventura) have been canceled.

apparantly it was caused by some guy that wanted to commit suicide by leaving his truck/car on the tracks. only he changed his mind and got out but left the car there...it's in the COR somewhere
