beatmatching

how the hell does george acosta beatmatch so perfectly, i mean ive tried doing what he does, but everytime it seems like im on beat ill start working with the mixer and then my beats are off by a few seconds...i mean im not sayin i suck at djing or anything like that, cause i can beatmatch but i want it to be exactly almost perfect where u can not even notice the next song coming in or something like that....ive listened to acosta and armin van buuren and they never miss a note...hope u all know what im talking about...

You need to practice. It takes years to refine the skill. Once you practice for a long time you can beatmatch in a few seconds and then spend about 30 seconds fine tuning for perfection. Learning to ride the pitch helps alot.

Does anybody in here use beatcounters? I just started to DJ and I was thinking about buying one. Would this be a worthwhile purchase?

Worst mistake of your life. Don't use a beatcounter. First off, no clubs or most won't have them. Besides, why cheat yourself out of the experience. Thats defeating the purpose.

If you have a mixer with BPM counter..ignore them, put tape over them whatever. Never trust a BPM counter. Just get two records and match them try to get it so it rides through the rest of the track matched. when done, move the pitch on both tables and do it again. Keep doing it. Thats how the guy who introduced me to mixing warmed me up to it 6 years ago. Dont get me wrong Im no pro but it helped me get an ear for it.

once you get the good match set, is it possible that they drift still? or am i still doing it wrong and its possible to have records beatmatched the whole time without touching the pitch?

If you have two songs matched perfectly they won't drift. In reality you only need to get the two songs close enough to where you can correct minor slips by riding the pitch before anyone notices. It takes years of practice to get that good though.
