This is my first post as a member but I been downloading many of this board's mixes for the past 2 years so I would like to start a thread dedicated some of the best of 2004. I hope the community will join me in reviewing some of last year's best mixes. Please post the name of the DJ + mix, URL and why you love the mix so much. Much love to all the wonderful talents on this board.
(In no particular order)
==================================
So many great tracks spanned over so many great mixes. Although he claims he's a bedroom DJ his mixes are far from amatuer. Great flow with superb layout and programming. It's amazing how Velvet has managed to make quantity and quality without compromising on either.
If I had to choose the best of 2004 it would be this mix. From the first beat this mix will have you hooked. The track selection was one of the best this year of any mix on TA hands down. Scott has a very keen sense of how a mix should sound to the listener and the deeper you go into the mix the more mezmerizing the beats get. Excellent flow that will keep you dancing. If only I can hear him live...
This mix is by far the most innovative and technically impressive of any mix this year. From the gorgeous intro which was flawlessly editted to the scorching breaks of the final track, this mix had a fun factor off the charts due to the impressive layout and transitions of this track. When I first saw the tracklisting I was very skeptical yet curious as to how some of the tracks would transition into each other but as the mix wound down I was in awe of how smooth and intricate the presentation was. Still in heavy rotation in my CD player after 4 months, this mix deserves much much props.

Wow, I'm honored. Thanks for the mention. And YES, I am a bedroom DJ, but I'm working on getting out of that. Well, I'll always be one, just I want to move on to bigger things. Thanks again.
Oh yeah, minor correction, its: Violet Crown Sessions
My top Mentions (NPO):
1. Igor K - Sounds of Progression Series
2. Max Thompson Sets
3. Dj Jade - 'Siren'
4. Alex Chapman's ever so solid sets
5. MissCreant's flawless hard trance sets.
6. Aaron Mossey's 'Beat Science'
There's more undoubtedly, but these 6 put out consistant solid mixes that are always on replay.
"A studio environment is there to be exploited. I don't really hold with these 'all live on 2 decks mixes'. If you want that, go to the gig." - Ben Watt

Thanks to you Subey, and to Xone62 also. I'm very flaterred! And I must say that I'm quite happy to see that ambient, which was (and is still somehow) a sub-genre, can now sit happily besides trance and prog.
Now if I had to name my favorites of this year, it would be Dj Rain with his intelligent "Departure set", and Steven Hays'fourth part of his Violet Crown Sessions. There's no arguing about these two guys knowing what a Dj set is all about. Keep it up!
Regards, Corentin.
