First off, nothing there is $40, the highest price is $30. These are pretty expensive restaurants... last time I went to Centro was years ago but it definitely came out to more than $30 per person. Take a look at the sites of some of these places and check out the prices on the menus.

Obviously if you'd rather cook for yourself then that's fine - I wouldn't shell out $30 at one of these restaurants either unless it was a special occasion. But hey, maybe some people are looking for a nice place to take their girl/boyfriend or something...

There are some $10 fixed menus, but mostly $20 or $30 set menus, and you get 2-4 courses, depending on the place. It's a good way to see a typically very expensive restaurant, for much less. You can see what each restaurant is offering on this site too, so you can decide what sounds appetizing to you.

Ate at Bymark tonight. Very nice place, good food. So upscale... I could never afford to eat at this place normally. 3-course meal for $30, when the appetizer alone normally costs $22!

Unfortunately, Fran was acting like a drunken sailor in there , drunk, loud as hell, cursing up a storm, and slamming his fist on the table to make a point, shutting the whole place up in horror.... I think he's banned from there now.

If you're thinking about going to any of these places, MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW! And keep calling back, as people cancel.
