dnx-1500 to jbl eons, static???

hey guys, i just hired a pair of 15" jbl eons for a party this saturday and im getting static through them. im running a laptop with dss dj 5, and 2 sound cards (internal laptop sound card and an external one) into the mixer (dnx-1500) and i get static when i turn the fader up and have nothing playing. the static isnt noticeable when i have songs playing but in breakdows and quiet parts its very noticeable. ive got the eon's running via XLR's and we tested them @ the shop so the speakers arent faulty. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks !

what's the level set at? if i turn my level up to the solid bar at about 3 o'clock and the faders at 10, I get some hissing thru my Alesis monitors

btw, eons are powered speakers? didn't realize they don't need an amp. that's cool.

the gain is @ 12 o'clock and the static is noticeable at any main volume level from the mixer. is it possible that the laptop/external sound card arent grounded?

the channel gain or master volume? if the master volume is @ 12 o'clock, that's not even that loud, so you shouldn't have any static there.

i wish i knew what to tell you. i get no problems when i hook my laptop up, maybe it's the two sound cards giving you trouble???

we need a techie to answer this question

sounds like a ground loop to me, one of the perils of having you computer hooked up to the mixer via more than one cable. Im afraid ive had too many beers to go into it at length but if you search this forum or google you should get a decent answer. Hope the party goes well
