Rage sucks.........(but I didn't have to tell you that)
I was at the Rage last night, because it was a friend of mine's birthday and because most our group was into that whole top 40/hip hop kind of thing. It was pretty dead, by the way, very few skanky women around. Anyhow, I'm trying to get my groove on, which just isn't happening with this hip hop stuff (I can't dance to it to save my life!) and all of a sudden what comes over the speakers:
Children of the Sandstorm!
I bust out laughing it so funny. I've heard the track before, but didn't think that it would ever get played at a club.
Thinking that they'd maybe have more "trance", I ask the dj's swift and cool if they have Rapture by Iio. The first guy goes (swift lets say), "you mean the song by Blondie?", while the other guy (cool), "uhhh......we're getting that in next week".
Go figure.

I was talking to my brother who's living in the UK now, and he says it's hilarious how tracks like Iio are always played on the radio there and are huge in clubs, but here not a single fucking person has heard of it.
Oh well, it lets me be a musical pioneer in Vancouver, lol =)

We're out on the outer-ridge of the world (it seems). I don't got a clue as to what's going on in Britain (cancelled by subcription to DJ magazine a long time ago) little though Rotterdam, Paris or Ibiza (where euroTrash meets the sea) except for the tin cans that wash ashore at the local HMV.
But the good thing about the Western Canadian Scene (LOL?) is that we can honestly say that we are in NO WAY influenced by the likes of MC MARIO or Chris Sheppard.
They never came from out here. They never got their ideas from out here. For that, I am proud.
There's just such a wide variety of influences out here, (especially in Calgary, or as it would seem...) It's refreshing for a change to see people doing different things for a change.
