MP3 Mixing
I was just reading Ur Dream Grl's post on Vinyls vs. CDs (good post btw) and I was just wondering if anybody out there uses mp3 mixing programs?
I'm not lookin' for any cheezy program...I'm talking about a high quality program that could to something like ACID could do, cut and paste, beatmix, the works...
Anyone know of a good program that can do such stuff?

even with those great tools, don't expect magic as soon as you start working with them.
My friend, you may be under the impression that MP3 mixers make life extremely easy... that's simply wrong. You have to have skills, knowledge, PATIENCE, and good techniques for BOTH of these programs. I've worked with both of them.

No...I wasn't expecting tunes to come dancing out my speakers like clockwork... and I never did say, 'easy'...heh
I've used MixMiester before and it does a pretty good job...
I was just wondering if any 'DJs' (and I use that term loosely here /flame retardant ON) actually use a professional programs to make up their studio mixes?

ive used to Traktor to make some very professial like mixes. it may seem like a childs toy but it is far from that, like eugene said it takes skill and patience, mainly a good dj knowledge in general. ive been spinning vinyl for 3 years and have just recently switched to cd's and mp3's and am getting much better results, plus saving lots of MONEY.
I've made up some decent mixes for the car with Traktor. Vinyl collection is limited in comparison to mp3 collection.

Hey Fir3start3r ... most commercial DJ mixes aren't mixed live at all ... or at least the big superclub-branded releases like the Gatecrasher and MoS series ... I read an interview with Red Jerry (aka Katcha) about how he mixes the Hooj compilations ... I think what they mostly do is rip the vinyls to high quality WAV files in a studio set up, and then spend a few days going over the mix with a mixing desk, some serious outboard studio hardware, and a expensive studio-only program like Pro Tools, to make sure it's all beat perfect.
If something is recorded live, like the Magik series, I'm sure they'll advertise the fact on the label.

I use BPM Studio Pro 4.1. I don't have any problems with it. I also run 2 sound card output into my external mixer rather than using the mixing sliders in the software. So really I just use it for beat matching a cue the tracks. If you use an external mixer with a built equaliser you can get much smoother mixing.
Again, as people have said above, there's a lot of skill involved. What it has done is bring mixing home to the people who couldn't afford 2 decks a mixer and buying vinyl. I don't mix much on my decks anymore, when I did alot I was spending £400 per month on fresh vinyl.
