Question Piano Question

I have a slight problem.....

Whenever I play melody's on my keyboard, I love the sound that comes directly from it... The built in "grand piano".

As funny as it might sound I really do like it better than any of the piano vst's loaded lol. As soon as I switch the notes from the keyboard to the vst it's a totally different sound for some reason. Most other vst's tend give off sounds totally different from my yamaha.

I'd love to transfer this keyboard to the computer (can this be done via midi out?). If there's another way please tell. I always wonder how others get piano's to sound so good... Alot of proffesional recordings use piano's but they're pretty much all synthetic (with the exception of bands like "Coldplay" for example).

"The Grand" is a good vst yes, but for piano it's a bit too "real" and hard... Even when switched to soft mode and even when eq'd, it still not synthetic enough. I also try'd some others but nothing seems to give me the sound I want which is the more "synthetic" sound which you can is easily immitated up from say, a keyboard..

Maybe there are some other piano vst's which I haven't had the chance to work with that can give off the kind of sound I am looking for...

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

- Rodas

Smoking ..umm..something

So U mean that U use GM MIDI sound nr001 Grand piano from YAMAHA keyb...ok
Should be the same as useing it from soundcards MIDI bank(if I'am rigth)
Or you can put your sequencer to play those notes on your keyb via MIDI cable and recordit back to computer from Yamahas output.
Bad english...

I use Edirol's SuperQuartet personally. If not, then HyperSonic.

Ivory is a great sample-based VST; just make sure you have a LOT of hard drive space - the program comes on 8 DVDs

soundfonts or romplers are the best way to go for real piano sounds. you just cannot beat the texture of the real deal. so sample it. sample it a hundred times over for different velocity levels for every fucking key on a full sized grand piano especially shipped into st paul's cathedral, recorded via the world's most expensive microphone and preamp. yea.

there are some soundfonts which are pretty huge (rain piano) and which are fairly expensive but they sound *decent*

if it comes on 8 dvds damn. ive got to check that one out. im expecting every fucking piano ever. digital pianos, grands, FM pianos, harpsicords - everything that makes a sound by striking a string in a big wooden box. whats the install gonna be like?
