Fred: Of course, I’m a DJ since 16 years… the problem is that I made all the stuff for people not able to produce or compose something and I was always in the shadow to help them without any “thanks” … But now I am finished with that stuff !!


well now that really really got me thinking. What other artists are always in the shadows making OTHER peoples careers bigger? I'm not really asking what DJ's benefited because that will turn into a flame war but i'm wondering what other artists really put the scene forward and other peoples careers.

here is a small list of people that helped the bigger name, or has had coproducers and such

Completely understandable, because if you have someone who is relatively new to the scene... They are going to associate the tracks with the DJ who's spin them and not the person who produced them.

yeah but without those DJs spinning producers' tracks, they wouldn't even be known in the first place...

Producers need DJs just as much as DJs need producers...I don't think Fred Baker understands this.

Both coexist. Without producers, there would be no tracks. Without DJ's, there wouldn't be 6 hour sets that melt into a single, flowing track that spans genres and timelines, and quite often, there would be hundreds and thousands of good tracks that would have otherwise gone unheard.

And if you want to get technical, if there were no sound engineers making these weird boxes and keyboards, there would be no electronic music in the first place, and we'd all be banging sticks and plucking strings.

My point is, music is music. DJ'ing and producing are two different ways of bringing that music across to the people.
