Bass 2 has more presence in the mix (which I like better), but the WHOLE THING needs a large boost on the low end. My subwoofer should be KICKING under my feet at the volume I have it at, but it's only buzzing. A little.

(More. More OOOMPH. )

and remember to boost lows(or what ever )in mixdown not in mastering!!

your mixdown has to be perfect before mastering

file 2 it is then

the way im learning to index sound is by distorting it, in the master EQ i distort all frequencys...however i do hear the buzz and not the full 'oomph'

i'll give it a shot, cheers guys

If you have a decent set of monitors...

Do what YOU think sounds good to you.. If you write a track on a crappy pair of PC speakers... then you will not know what is exactly going on... its like painting a picture with glasses that blur your vision.... but in this case its your hearing

Some EQing Tips:

* Cut before you boost
=> Cut frquencies in a sound that arent being used... makes your mix clearer

* Give each sound its own space so they sit nicely together instead of trying to overide and fight for sonic space.

A 'blue' instrument and a 'yellow' instrument can still combine to provide a 'green' sounding instrument, but what you usually don't want is for this 'green' sound to take over the 'blue' and 'yellow' ones.

Maybe not the best way of explaining it, but it's usually still OK for two or more instruments to occupy the same frequency space, provided they don't 'fight' together in other ways. If you find they sound well together, then why not?

You could try reducing the particular frequency on one instrument and boosting it (most likely not as much) on the other though, depending on which instrument you want to be dominant.

There aren't any set rules though, so don't be afraid to break them. I mean, the fact that the 'rule' states to give each instrument its own sonic space doesn't exactly mean that you have to bandpass each track.
