got to the club around 10:30pm with my grandpa and grandma ..
actually no ..
got to the club around 11pm with drgoodvibe only to find out earlier from RJ that the place wouldn't be openning till around 11:30pm. anyhow myself and a couple of TOTAs headed in after having worked out some 'issues' with the entry into a virtually empty yet styling Guv..
the setup of the club looked fantastic. red drapery and other Chinese/Asian ornamentals hung from the ceiling and the walls and couches were positioned around the corners of the room. all the other areas were closed off ie. stage and entrance to the drink (closed). the area towards the Orange room entrance was converted into a bar/lounge area with several more couches. best of all the DJ booth was actually on the floor of the club! it was positioned to face directly opposite of the main entrance doorway. the placement allowed all the DJs to gain maximum crowd interaction for the nite..
i honestly had no expections going down 2nite and honestly wondered how the turnout would be for a party happening midweek in the middle of winter. the crowd was undoubtedly asian, but wasn't as bad as some might come to expect. sure the sketchiness was there like any other Spin Sat nite, but the TOTA massif always more than makes up for that. anyhow, Addy openned the nite up with some sickass banging beats. i LOVED the fact that there was so much room to dance in the club. it almost felt like being in an entirely new venue. the place started to fill slowly throughout the nite, and by the time Dekoze came on which was after Addy, there was a good sized crowd yet still plenty of space to dance. man i had so much fun boogying with all that space.. i don't think i've experienced that at the Guv since i caught Tiesto play there for the first time back in 2000.. it was an amazing feeling some thing i wish we could experience on a regular basis again. anyhow, Dekoze openned with Way Out West - Killa which got the crowd goin early in anticipation for Blank & Jones.
Blank & Jones finally came out and dropped an absolutely exquisitely killer set. oh man i have not heard trance that sweet since 1999/2000.. a nice flashback of parties of heathen old. we were also treated to a lion dance & martial arts spectacle on the stage by Pillar which was quite entertaining (kinda reminded me of Tiesto in Concert). their [Blank & Jones] set was nothing less than banging, epic, and full on TRANCE. probably by far one of the purest trance sets in a long ass time. it wasn't just trance, but sweet booty ass German trance. the epic euphoria was just unreal.. there are still some of us rushing the nite away as i type this review after that onslaught of lengendary uplifting trance in all its shining glory..
by the time Goldfinger came out after B&J, those of us who had to work tommorow had to bail on out..
all in all a very enlightening evening..
shout outs to all the TOTAs i saw in tha house ..
